Samsung Improves Video Experience on Older Galaxy Devices with the Instant Slow-Mo Feature
The announcement that Instant Slow-Mo will soon be available on the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S9 series was initially made by Tarun Vats on X, a Korean-language community forum for Samsung.
In order to power Instant Slow-Mo, Samsung uses both the Neural Processing Unit (NPU) and the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), according to a forum administrator who explained the technology behind the feature. Instant Slow-Mo claims to greatly improve user experience, requiring only 16.6 milliseconds of processing time for fluid real-time video playback.
Samsung has made a calculated strategic decision to enhance the functionality of its current product lineup by bringing Instant Slow-Mo to older smartphones. Due to processing constraints, earlier models such as the Galaxy S22 series were not able to take advantage of this function. However, users of the newly supported smartphones can now easily capture and watch slow-motion videos.
Samsung has promised users that they will receive notification when the function becomes accessible on their devices, even if a precise release timetable has not been disclosed. There is speculation that the rollout could take place at the same time as the One UI 6.1 update, which is scheduled for delivery on older phones later this month.
Without the requirement to film in the native slow-motion mode, Instant Slow-Mo allows viewers to easily see slow-motion versions of local recordings. To make it more interesting, Samsung also allow their users to make slow-motion films.
